PESHAWAR:

Three people were injured in a low intensity bomb blast in Adezai village on the outskirts of Peshawar Friday afternoon.

The explosion took place in an open field where villagers gather every day to spend the afternoon smoking hashish.

Police said the device was buried under the ground and left three people injured. Two of them were later shifted to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH).

“Fazal-e-Amin and Jafar had sustained considerable injuries and were shifted to the hospital whereas no need was felt to take the third victim,” said an official of the local police station.

The bomb disposal squad (BDS) was also called to inspect the site and look for any more explosives planted nearby. The police official, however, said a few hundred grammes of explosives were planted in only this place.

The blast spread panic in the village where people are already fearful of more bloodshed with elections looming. Adezai has been on the hit list of militants for quite some time due to the presence of the Adezai Aman Lashkar in the area.
