LAHORE: Services Hospital’s new 80-bed nursery was inaugurated on Thursday by the Health Minister, Saleema Hashmi.

About Rs14 million were spent on the new ward, project director Prof Dr Muhammad Ali informed the minister, which also houses an intensive care unit and a high dependency unit.

Hashmi said that women and children were the most very vulnerable segments of the society and initiatives like the nursery would go a long way in ensuring better healthcare for children.

Responding to a question, Hashmi said the drives against polio, measles and dengue could be successful if the society played its role.

She asked women to play their role in identifying and destroying dengue larvae since last year 80 per cent of the larvae were found in houses.

Secretary Health Arif Nadeem also attended the inaugural ceremony.
