Two election tribunals, constituted by the Sindh High Court to hear appeals against rejection or acceptance of nomination papers, started functioning on Monday. Both tribunals comprise three judges of the high court and will attend to complaints from all over the province, including those for non-Muslim and women reserved seats.
One of the tribunal - comprising justices Faisal Arab, Ghulam Sarwar Korai and Muneeb Akhtar - issued notice to the Election Commission of Pakistan and the relevant returning officers to file their comments by April 10 on appeals challenging rejection of three candidates’ nomination papers after a preliminary hearing. The three included Haji Khuda Baksh Nizamani from NA-234 (Sanghar), Rameezul Haq Zahoor from PS-86 (Thatta) and Nasrullah from PS-125 (Karachi).
Three other candidates, Pakistan Muslim League-Functional’s Mir Khan Khoso, Syed Karam Darwesh and Rasool Buksh, have also appealed against their rejection.
