SWABI: Former Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa minister for Zakat and Usher Haji Zarshaid Khan withdrew his resignation from the Awami National Party (ANP) on Sunday.

Khan had announced his resignation last week, but returned after efforts made by senior leadership, including Provincial President Afrasiab Khattak, former Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain and District President Haji Rahmanullah. A Jirga formed by the party said Zarshaid Khan and some other members who had left the party should be brought back as they were assets.

The Jirga also said both the country and party were passing through difficult times in which unity among party workers was imperative. ANP President Asfandyar Wali Khan took note of Khan’s decision and personally asked him to take back his resignation. The ANP district workers who had resigned along with Zarshaid Khan returned to the party and expressed their commitment to Bacha Khan’s philosophy of peace and non violence.
