KARACHI: The Oxford University Press has decided to transport the magic of the Karachi Literature Festival (KLF) to Islamabad.
The managing director of OUP, Ameena Saiyid, announced at the Karachi Press Club on Friday, that the organisation, which has been holding the festival in Karachi for four years now, will launch it in Islamabad on April 30 this year. “We want to leverage on the success of the four KLFs and take the event to other parts of the country so that more people can be exposed to the works of Pakistani writers,” said Saiyid. She added that the Islamabad Literature Festival will provide one more platform through which writers hailing from Pakistan and abroad can exchange ideas. “Some new writers will also be launched at the festival which will include debates, interviews, mushairahs, book fairs and book launches.”
A number of eminent personalities, including Muneeza Shamsie, Intizar Husain, Pervez Hoodbhoy and Maleeha Lodhi, have been invited to attend. The co-founder of KLF, Asif Farrukhi, was also present at the press briefing.

good move, much safer and more foreigners will then visit as you do need overseas input to promote Pakistan as a literary place. Great event. Really enjoyed it.
