KARACHI:

CID SP Mazhar Mashwani said that Javed Aziz Memon, the cousin of former Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, was killed while resisting a robbery and not in a targeted attack as previously believed.

At a press conference on Wednesday, he mentioned that the police had arrested two robbers, Najeebullah and Raheemullah, from Frontier Mor who confessed that they killed Javed when he refused to give them his car on January 2 this year. “They are professional criminals,” said Mashwani. “Apart from being responsible for Memon’s death, they also admitted to having killed half a dozen other people for resisting robberies.”

Other raids and arrests

The Rangers arrested nine members of a political party during a raid at an office in Landhi. They were transferred to an undisclosed location for further questioning.

Additionally, 20 men were taken into custody during raids in various parts of Lyari, including Jumman Shah, Kashti Chowk, Aath Chowk and Phool Patti Lane.

The Ranger found a huge cache of arms and ammunitions from a fake grave of a gangster of Lyari, Noor Muhammad alias Baba Ladla, who is still alive.

Two men were shot dead by unidentified men in Gulistan Colony, Lyari, within the limits of Chakiwara police station.

I think we let target killers loose as long as this is a gang war, but street criminals, it is high time that we kill them
