ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) allotted the 'arrow' symbol to the Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) on Monday, reported Express News.

The PPPP had earlier contested the last two elections using the arrow symbol, but this year, Ghinwa Bhutto’s PPP-Shaheed Bhutto and the Naheed Khan-led party all claimed their parties to be the actual PPP and asked for the ‘arrow’.

The ECP asked all three to appear before it today with relevant proof to back their stances.

Naheed Khan's supporters and PPPP members clashed with each other after the ECP announced its decision and tore each other’s posters.

Naheed said that she would appeal against the commission’s decision.

Earlier, the ‘scale’ symbol was also claimed by two parties – Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) – but the election symbol ruled in favour of JI and allotted the ‘bat’ symbol to PTI.

Fair decision I think .. although why was there no police present to control the situation? I don't understand. There was bound to be a scuffle at the end of this all no matter which way the decision went .. ECP should have prepared accordingly.
