Poll preparations: Provincial election commission announces dates to file papers

Eight seats are reserved for women in NA from K-P, while 22 are reserved for women and three for non-Muslims in PA.

The Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) provincial chapter on Saturday announced dates for filing nomination papers, scrutiny, filing appeals and withdrawal of candidates for reserved seats of women and minorities in national and provincial legislatures.


A statement issued by ECP’s provincial office said Election Commissioner Sono Khan Baloch has notified dates to fill the reserved seats in national and provincial assemblies. Eight seats are reserved for women in the National Assembly from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), while 22 seats are reserved for women and three seats for non-Muslims in the provincial assembly.

The notification added nomination papers can be filed with returning officers from March 24-29, while scrutiny of the papers will be carried out from March 30 till April 5.

Appeals against rejections and acceptance of nomination papers can be filed by April 9 and tribunals will decide the cases on April 16, while April 17 will be the last day to cancel candidature. Revised lists of candidates will be published on April 18.

ECP has appointed 32 district returning officers, 145 returning officers and 164 assistant returning officers in K-P and Fata.
