LAHORE ': The Lahore High Court on Thursday extended the interim bail of former federal minister Ghulam Sarwar, who is alleged to have used another person’s intermediate certificate in order to sit the exams for his bachelor’s degree. Justice Shahid Hameed Dar extended Sarwar’s bail till March 29. The prosecutor said on Thursday that Sarwar had obtained a duplicate diploma (equivalent to intermediate) from the Punjab Board of Technical Education (PBTE) that was originally issued to another candidate of the same name, but whose father’s name was different. He said Sarwar used the duplicate diploma to sit his BA exams at Islamia University in Bahawalpur. The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) investigated the matter and lodged a case against board officials and Sarwar. The petitioner’s counsel argued that his client had a valid degree and the case lodged against him was politically motivated.
