Asif records crushing victory

IBSF champion hits back in national snooker event.

KARACHI: IBSF world champion Mohammad Asif shrugged off his shock loss as he thrashed Amir Shehzad 4-0 on day two of the Jubilee Insurance 38th National Snooker Championship underway at the Karachi Gymkhana.

Mohammad Ishtiaq took Asif by surprise on the opening day as the champion played his first game in Pakistan following his triumph in Sofia, Bulgaria last year. But Asif recovered to beat Shehzad with frame scores of 95-12, 61-08, 84-39 and 58-51.

Imran Shehzad stunned Sultan Mohammad with a straight-frame win, while Sohail Shehzad defeated Muhammad Uzair 4-2.

Rambail Gul of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa piped Muhammad Sajjad 4-3 despite being two frames down and eventually registered with frame scores of 88-16, 72-27, 43-83, 14-63, 63-15, 34-47 and 51-61.
