Addressing simultaneous foundation day public rallies in Mirpur Khas and Karachi via telephone, Altaf said they aim to end exploitative feudal system.
Terming the murder of Professor Sibte Jafar as yet another attempt to incite differences among the public along sectarian, he urged the people to remain calm and defeat this conspiracy.
The MQM chief added that in their government, a poor man, if they are unable to hire a lawyer, would be able to fight their own case.
Altaf also promised greater accountability especially for extortionists and terrorists. “Those who have looted the national exchequer, they would be hanged in front of the people.”
He also promised new land reforms where small farmers will be given lands.
Ending Karo-Kari
The MQM chief in his address said that his party will fight against the culture of Karo-Kari.
“Those women who want to marry of their own free will and if someone declares them as karo kari - then such women will be provided shelter at MQM protection centres.”
He added that there will be greater persecution of crimes against women.
“Who so ever will abuse women will be brought in court and sentenced according to the severity of their crime.”
Altaf also vowed to raise the representation of women in governmental and semi-government organisations to 50 percent.

@Close-enough. Which Punjab do you live in? Free education doesn't mean 3rd class schools -- It means equal opportunity education for all. I don't see that at all.
Also, am not sure which free health you are talking about. The situation of government hospital is pretty pathetic. Anyone who can afford little money doesn't want to go there. Besides, YDA is generally on strike. So much for conflict resolution abilities of Khadem-e-ala.
Last but not the least, Isn't that Mr. NS family gets treatment in UK? Why don't they use these so called "free health services?".
well if they stop killing people in karachi every day, im sure the health situation would improve.
Both facilities are already free in Punjab.
Is this the same guy who's afraid to live in Pakistan? If so you would think security would be the first thing he would tackle but terrorism never seems to be a priority let alone a vote getter in Pakistan.
What has stopped him enforcing this in the last 10 years they have ruled KHI
@kashif: bravo, at least you dare to say it. & how Mr. Altaf can access the current circumstances of education and health in this country when he is abroad? I am unable to understand and highly appreciate his followers who have the courage to stick with a mad leader ahead.
“Who so ever will abuse women will be brought in court and sentenced according to the severity of their crime.”
Sir, don't you know that the mothers and sisters living in the stronghold of your party have been harassed by no one else but the staunch supporters of your party as they snatch their belongings (cash, jewelry etc.) for the last 29 years. and who has the courage to speak against them We are mute..
The only bad side to their rule would be that they will kill you if you ever dare to disagree with them.
The election promises made by Altaf Hussein sound utter nonsense, by the way. Does not he know that education is already free up to Matriculation and even HSC level in public schools and colleges in Pakistan. Medical is also free in public hospitals in this country. However, he ignored the basic fact that it's not about free education, it's all about modern, progressive, and quality education accessible to all classes of society. Only a singular and secular education system can guarantee national harmony and progress for people of Pakistan. An education system should provide equal opportunities to all and should enable all segments of the society to participate efficiently in the progress of this country. Same is the case with health system of this country.
Also, he issued statement of hanging culprits in public, which is a violation of basic human rights. Mr.Hussein has been living in a country that strictly observe human rights. His nonsense statement can generate a uproar in the UK if highlighted properly in the media. MQM projects itself as a secular and democratic party, but the party leader speaks like the spokesperson of TTP, just to please masses. It's a shame and it also reveals the same feudal mentality which he curses in his statements almost daily.
I am sure MQM would win, but I don't believe health and education would free.
The language he used last night was shocking to say the least!
The real question is... Will our cellphones be safe? Giving that surety would definitely get more votes.
