Snooker: National event to begin from March 17

World Amateur Champion Mohammad Asif is the top-seed for the competition.

KARACHI: The 38th Jubilee Insurance National Snooker Championship 2013 will begin from March 17 at the Karachi Gymkhana. The finalists of the event will be rewarded with the chance of representing Pakistan in the forthcoming 29th Asian Snooker Championship. The Asian event will be played here from April 27 to May 3 and all the cueists have an open chance to seal their place through the national championship, which carries a winning purse of Rs80,000 while the runner-up will get Rs50,000. The players have been divided into five groups of eight and two players will progress into the pre-quarter-finals from each group. World Amateur Champion Mohammad Asif is the top-seed for the competition.
