GUJRANWALA:

Police on Tuesday registered a case against a woman for allegedly torturing a seven-year-old maid. They said they had raided the woman’s house, but not found her.

The case was registered on the complaint of the child’s mother Shabbiran Bibi, who told Aroop police that her daughter Irum had started working at Baby Bibi’s house in Model Town as a full time maid at a monthly salary of Rs1,000.

She said she would visit her daughter once a month.

She said when she visited her on Tuesday, she saw that her daughter’s hair had been cut and she looked weak. She said Irum told her that her employer and her children would often beat her on small mistakes she made.

She said Baby Bibi would drop acid on her feet and burn her with hot knives.

She said they cut her hair for crying in front of a guest.

Shabbiran Bibi brought her child back and reported to the police.

She said her niece Shazia, 9, worked at one of Baby Bibi’s relatives.

Police sent the child for a medico-legal examination to a hospital and later handed her to her parents.
