Fashion police: Don’t do the mildew!

Sorry Neha, Miss Universe 2002 might have placed you in their top 10, but you earned no points on our style-o-meter.

Bollywood actor Neha Dhupia was recently seen covered in what seemed to be fungal growth. As she was promoting British Columbia tourism at the Shangrila Hotel in Mumbai, we couldn’t help but notice the horrifying ensemble she chose for the day.

Sorry Neha, Miss Universe 2002 might have placed you in their top 10, but you earned no points on our style-o-meter for this one.

The charge sheet

With such beautiful skin, one doesn’t need to worry much about make-up. While we appreciate Neha wearing the light pink lipstick, her dark brown eye-pencil should have been used on top lids — not under the eyes. That hair should have been left down; it could have hid some of that mold growing on the neckline.

Although we can’t see Neha’s shoes, we’ll give her the benefit of doubt by assuming they’re a nice pair. The wide, gold bracelet with a few rings did no wonders for the dress — something bright could have taken our eyes off that neckline. The earrings she chose to wear look like Oscar trophies. And that pale pink nail colour was a big no-no.

Whose bright idea was this? Neha is wearing a frumpy dress with what looks like frog spawn growing on the neckline. While the bottom of the dress resembles a saree, the top of it is an eyesore. A word of advice: going green is great, but not like this. Neha, next time please check with friends (or the mirror) before stepping out in public.

Wore it better

Mischa Barton

Actor Mischa Barton looked glamorous as she posed in her Elie Saab dress at a Hollywood party. The mint green, flowy gown was embellished with flower petal cut outs on top and stitched to perfection. We love the dark nail-colour and the stone accessories on her hands.

Diane Kruger

German actor Diane Kruger showed up at the Cannes Film Festival 2012 wearing a pastel green, one-shoulder gown, which resembled a saree as well. We love the silver jewellery and clutch complimenting her dress. The light make-up is always a winner, and a tight, slicked back bun was the perfect choice for that beautiful back.

Felicity Jones

English actor Felicity Jones wore an aqua Proenza Schouler dress at the Gotham Awards in 2007. The knee-length, flattering dress, paired with beige, strappy platforms looked simple yet elegant. The British style icon also confirms that dressing simple doesn’t mean it should be boring!
