RAWALPINDI:

A seminar on new revenue legislation in Punjab that ensures women’s inheritance rights was held at the Rawalpindi Arts Council on Wednesday.

The seminar highlighted provisions in the Punjab Land Revenue (Amendment) Act, 2012 and Punjab Partition of Immovable Property Act 2012 that protect inheritance rights of women in joint property.

Speaking on the occasion, Rawalpindi Commissioner Imdadullah Bosal said the new legislation would provide economic empowerment to women. He said both acts would play an effective role in resolving complicated revenue matters. The seminar had been organised because awareness of revenue officials, legal fraternity and the general public was drastically needed for the implementation of new revenue laws aimed at ensuring inheritance rights of women, he added.
