Election schedule to be announced in 10 days: Secretary ECP

ECP will hold meeting on Thursday for the finalisation of the nomination paper format.

ISLAMABAD: Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Ishtiaq Ahmed has said that the election schedule will be announced in 10 days after the present assemblies are dissolved, Express News reported on Wednesday.

Ahmed was speaking to the media in Islamabad after holding a meeting with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman‚ National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) chairman and Governor State Bank. The meeting was chaired by Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin G Ebrahim.

The sectary ECP said that only 10 days are left till the dissolution of the assemblies and the commission has to complete all its tasks within these 10 days.

He informed that the media that a new online system has been introduced for the verification of nomination papers submitted by candidates. The online system will work side-by-side with the previous manual system and a cell has been set up by the commission for the purpose, he said.

Ahmed said that the Higher Education Commission (HEC) does not have any representative in the cell but they can send in a name if they want to have a representative included.

A meeting will also be held in the election commission tomorrow for the finalisation of the nomination paper format.

Is there a condition which forces the provincial government to dissolve assemblies at the same time as the federal govt.? If not, we should seriously look into this as CM Shahbaz Sharif has no intentions of dissolving assemblies.

go ahead, announce the elections plan. Let us see how feudal leaders will manage to win the elections again.
