In November 2012, the court had nullified Sadiq’s appointment as Ogra chief after a corruption case surfaced on his misuse of authority in increasing rates for unaccounted for gas. He fled to Abu Dhabi but the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) cancelled both his passports and sent his full details to the Interpol for necessary action.
Other than the allegation of embezzling Rs83 billion, Sadiq carries another 10 allegations to his name of misconduct and a fake Master of Laws degree.
A three-member bench, headed by Justice Jawwad S Khwaja, maintained that thousands of rupees have been spent on Sadiq’s arrest but no progress has been made so far.
Justice Khilji Arif Hussain questioned if the NAB has started protecting the corrupt people instead of arresting them.
The NAB lawyer requested the court to adjourn the hearing till a review petition is filed, but the bench turned down the request.
Justice Khawaja said that the report submitted by NAB was unsatisfactory and it showed that the issue was being deliberately delayed.
Sources say Sadiq’s estimated date of return to Islamabad is March 15.

Viewers should read Ansar Abbasi's article in today's english paper how Government is protecting Tauqir Sadiq. Question arises what were the motives behind Interior Minister's request to meet NAB team present in UAE.
What will happen once he is back, will justice be done ? or a judgement be passed? We have seen so many cases already, where criminals have come to court and nothing has ever happen, while they run free, rampaging the country at their will. getting over emotional and truly Pakistani (with conspiracy theories) I think this is big game, where everyone is working together behind closed doors and we are being made fools off (not that it take much effort)
These Arab brothern have not only help start Shia Sunni conflict in Pakistan but are harbouring corrupt and crimnals.
If both of his passports are cancelled, then he is a homeless person in UAE. What is it that prevents UAE from deporting him to his country of origin? Definitely UAE Govt. is acting at the behest of Pak. Govt., no doubt about it!!!
What?! He's not in the country yet? NAB's chief should be thrown in jail. Then we'll see how quickly they bring him back. NAB's chief is a wolf among sheep.
A few hunting licenses should not be made the cost of harbouring a criminal...........shame on the UAE government.
