According to the police, Singh has been accused of “conspiracy and murder”.
The victim, senior police officer Ziaul Haque, served as a Deputy Superintendent and was shot dead in Pratapgarh where he had gone to investigate the murder of a village head in connection with a land dispute.
Reports said Haque's body was dragged through the village by his killers. The DSP’s widow had subsequently lodged a complaint with the police.
Singh was not present at the scene of the crime and maintains that he is innocent.
The minister has several criminal cases pending against him and has served jail time in the past.

The man in the picture is NOT Raghuraj Pratap Singh; he is Akhilesh Yadav - CM of UP. It seems TE and India TV have signed a MoU for goofing up the pics.
Last week ET rediculed Indian media for usin MQM MPA's picture. Now ET is using picture of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and that of the accused Minister.
