Tennis: Aqeel clinches championship title

Top seed Aqeel Khan clinched the Muhammad Akram Riar Sindh Ranking Tennis Championship as he defeated his younger brother and second-seed Yasir Khan 6-4, 6-3 in an hour and 10 minutes at the Wapda Sports Club in Hyderabad.


Aqeel had outplayed third-seed Jalil khan 6-3, 6-4 in the semi-final, while Yasir had eased into the final by defeating Asif Bachani 6-0, 6-0. The championship offered a prize of Rs130,000.

Meanwhile, the boys under-18 title went to Talha Zubair, as he beat Murad Khan 6-2, 6-3 in an hour to lift the trophy.

Zubair had defeated Omer Riaz 6-1, 6-1 in the semi-final, while Murad overcame second-seed Jalaluddin Babar 6-3, 6-4 to book a place in the final with Zubair.
