Power breakdown: 16 hours later, there was light

Power breakdown was the result of a fault in the 132 KV grid station at Kangra Colony, says Pesco.

In the aftermath of a massive power breakdown, a major part of the Haripur District plunged into darkness for over 15 hours on Monday. This brought life to standstill in the district.


The power supply to the entire district was suspended at around 5am on Monday and was restored to some of the power feeders around 9am. Thousands of consumers getting supply from seven feeders were without electricity, suspending economic and routine activities across the city. The affected (feeders including Town 1 Haripur City, Khalabat Township 2, Sera-e-Nehmat Khan, Mirpur, Khanpur, New Shadi and Old Shadi.)

A Pesco source said that the power breakdown was the result of a fault in the 132 KV grid station at Kangra Colony where the panel of power transfer went out of order and the staff of Planning and Installation department of Pesco was still busy removing the fault.
