PESHAWAR:

The head constable of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Farman Ali, was shot dead in Toheedabad, in the limits of Yakatoot police station.

Farman Ali is reported to be a gunman for CTD Senior Superintendent Police Ali Kiyani. He went to the mosque to offer his morning prayers on Sunday morning and was on his way back when unidentified men shot him dead.

“His father Ajab Khan lodged an FIR and told us it was a target killing incident and not a case of personal enmity,” said a police official in Yakatoot.

The attackers had escaped by the time the police reached the area.

“This [murder] is part of target killings taking place in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Head constable Farman was targeted because he was a policeman,” asserted the official, adding the police have started investigating the case.
