Shootout: Police and robbers exchange fire

The police exchanged fire with the criminals for two hours and managed to kill Zaheer and Ifitikhar.

FAISALABAD: Bhowana Bazaar police on Saturday raided the hideout of three wanted criminals and killed two in an exchange of fire while one managed to escape.

Chiniot DPO Rai Zameerul Hassan said the police received a tip-off regarding the whereabouts of three notorious criminals Zaheer, Ifitkhar and Riaz. They were accused of robbery and murder. DSP Chaudhry Ashiq Virk, SHO Chauddhry Babar Nawaz, Sub Inspector Zafar Butt among others raided Dera Shera Hural in Sahmbal area that served as a hideout for the gang. The police exchanged fire with the criminals for two hours and managed to kill Zaheer and Ifitikhar. Riaz too was injured but managed to flee. The police have launched a search operation for Riaz.
