Homecoming: Gulzar inaugurates school block

The 83-year-old lyricist and his wife made a sojourn to his childhood home and took pictures inside the house.

During the visit, the renowned Indian poet and his wife Rakhi received a hearty welcome.

ISLAMABAD: Sampooran Singh Kalra, better known as the poet ‘Gulzar’, visited his birthplace in Dina, Jhelum District on Tuesday to rekindle his childhood memories. The legendry poet also visited Government Model School Mian Mohalla — where he studied up to class five — and inaugurated a new educational block, which will be called ‘Gulzar Kalra Block’. He spent some time with the students in the school and shared his old memories with them. During the visit, the renowned Indian poet and his wife Rakhi received a hearty welcome. The 83-year-old lyricist and his wife made a sojourn to his childhood home and took pictures inside the house. Besides his wife, the poet was accompanied by film producer Vishal Bhardwaj, poet Wasi Shah and others.
