PESHAWAR:

Four people were killed and one injured in two separate incidents on Saturday.

Fazal-e-Mula filed an FIR saying his brother Shah Nawaz and his friends Mansoor Khan, Misri Khan and Ishfaq had been invited for dinner by their Afghan friends to settle a monetary dispute.

“The case is simple and straightforward. These four men had a tussle with the Afghan nationals, who invited them for dinner to settle the matter, but killed them instead,” said a Paharipura police official.

He added the food given to the guests was poisoned which rendered them defenceless against their accused murderers. However, it was not immediately clear if the victims had died of poisoning or some other cause.

The suspects include Mamoor Khan, Amirullah, Usman, Hameed Gul, Ghulam Rasool, Syed Ahmad and Shamndoze. Bodies of the deceased were sent for autopsy.

In a separate incident, a man was gunned down and his father injured near the Governor House in the jurisdiction of East Cantt police station.

According to the police, Younas Baig and his two sons, Safiullah and Inam were standing outside Shahi Mehman Khana when their adversaries opened fire at them, killing Safiullah on the spot and severely injuring Younas. Police said the victims were residents of Banamarhi and were visiting the area for a court hearing. They believed the killing was the result of a family dispute.

Interestingly, the incident occurred under broad daylight in the heavily guarded neighbourhood of the Governor House, MPA Hostel and Shahi Mehman Khana, creating fear and panic among residents of the area.
