Three wanted criminals were gunned down by the police after a firefight in Jaganath, Swabi on Thursday. Addressing a press conference, Swabi DPO Abdur Rasheed Khan said Yar Hussain SHO Qazi Asmatullah Khan along with other police personnel were fired at during a routine check at Adina-Chota Lahor Road around midnight.
“We retaliated and exchanged fire for around 30 minutes,” DPO Rasheed said. The bodies of the suspects were taken to the police station and were identified as brothers Fayaz and Zahid from Palai, Malakand Agency, and Hayat Bacha from Katlang. SHO Qazi informed the Jaganath police of the incident and told them to establish additional checkpoints in the area. The police also called for assistance, after which the Chita Lahor and Kalu Khan police established a checkpoint near Jaganath bridge, the DPO said. Three AK-47, pistols, mobile phones and more than Rs80,000 in cash was recovered from their possession. All suspects were wanted in separate cases of killings and attempted murders.
