QUETTA:

If there is any attempt to restore the Aslam Raisani government, an organisation representing Shias has threatened to go on a nationwide strike and march towards Quetta from different cities.

“Around 1,400 people have been killed during the current government’s rule,” the Majlis-i-Wahdatul Muslimeen’s Allama Ameen Shaheedi said at an all parties conference on Tuesday. The insensitivity shown by the chief minister for the Quetta Snooker Club blasts leaves no room for the Raisani government to be restored, he added. The January 10 attack claimed 120 people in one of the bloodiest days in recent history.

The Jamaat-i-Islami’s Liaquat Baloch said at the discussion that the army should play an active role in resolving the Balochistan issue. “In the current circumstances the government should ensure that the elections are held as soon as possible,” he said.
