Imran was speaking to a gathering held in Lahore in honour of former Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) chief late Qazi Hussain Ahmed.
Calling democracy the only way to prosper, the PTI chief said the current government has done nothing in the name of democracy but looting.
Imran further said the leaders criticise judiciary for harming democracy only when it investigates their corruption.
“As soon as someone tries to hold you accountable, you cry about democracy coming under attack,” he said.
Speaking about the dynastic politics in the country, Imran said all political parties should hold intra-party elections to bring real leaders to the top.
“The traditional parties have their heirs taking over as leaders throughout the history of Pakistan,” he said.
Recalling his time in the parliament, Imran said during his five-year tenure he realised Pakistani lawmakers were selfish and only thought about themselves rather than the people.
He said such people should be stopped from coming to power.

IK, you always wate 90% time of your speaches, press confrences, just to criticise ,Govt, coalation parties, PMLN, and others
Remember, one day will come, people will not listen you, will ignore
Please just relax, talk about you fture programme, people already knows about Govet so much
You say you will never allow the democratic set up to be derailed. By saying this you are fully supportng the current setup. Mr Khan no difference between you and PPP
IK has already lost it. SS has pinned him down through his impressive performance and hardwork. IK now looks for unconstitutional support. That's why he supported Qadri. He is no more a threat to PML-N. They are way too strong and deserve to win the elections. They remained principle-centered. They worked hard and impressively. They have delivered in the past and will deliver again, if given a chance.
Yes I call it a damnocracy.
@salman:
Imran Khan does not have the gumption to initiate mass agitation; never had and never would. As for change through ballot, I am willing to wager that he would boycott the elections or else I would shave my head off. BTW, there was another hearlded change which was talk of the town not too long ago - the Intra Party Elections! How has this exercise fared till date or the erstwhile Kaptaan is contemplating the B word here as well ;)
Imran Khan is 100% right in saying this. The present coalition has done nothing during the past 5 years except plundering the country and plunged the country in the darkness and destroying the economy through unlimited internal and external loans and by stopping the gas and electricity supply to the industries particularly to Punjab.
Operation clean up begins from your own crib y'all! Mr. incorruptible Niazi would do mankind a world of good by coming cleani on Beenami transaction associated with the mansion at Banigala, Short-cut Khanum and its financial irregularities and most importantly how he plans to deal with his loan defaulting doolha bhai Hafeezullah and cousins Irfan and Inamullah Niazi.
Talk is dirt cheap and can be found in abundance. Actions speaks louder than words!
Very good and timely remark.
@adnan
The only thing that didn't take off was pmln go Zardari go campaign. Despite best efforts of pmln when they realised the public is not interested in following mian sahib they dropped it like a hot potato. Mian sahib I think didn't want to do it anyway...seeing how he and Zardari are bbf.
Pti is committed to bring change through he ballot...but if it does have to do a march..trust me it will make your hair stand up ;) unless you have started wearing a wig.
@chacha: What else you have to say !!
I fully endorse the manifesto of great Khan.
“............coalition of the corrupt,” Mr Khan perhaps you can educate us by defining "corrupt". You famously denied having a love child and denied it before being proved you were the father. You call that being clean?
For some reason, this man doesn't seem relevant anymore.
We will vote only PTI this time. Enough of PPP, PMLN, JUI, MQM and ANP
unfortunately IK is not mature at all as a poltician. Why does he always keep coming up with such nonsensical statements.
Imran is not making any extraordinary statement because everyone knows that PPP led government in centre and provinces are corrupt. The elections are not far and he is not telling us what his plans are? How he will fight corruption with half dozens seats is the real question.
Imran Khan is absolutely right. It is collation of corrupt. Independent FBR should investigate the ill gotten wealth and Tax Amnesty Bill should not passed by the assembly.And if passed it should be challenged in Supreme Court
Mr khan should tell the people what he will do for them an not what others have not done for the people. He blew up his chance when he decided not to march with Qadri.
Rex Minor
YAWN!
@salman:
Is that why the soonami march never really took off because PML-N did come good on its Go Zardari Go campaign! Jee wiz Sherlock, is IK that infatuated with NS that he would even copycat the ideas of his nemesis for the sole purpose of playing to the gallery?
NS and PML-N are the evil here (at least this is what taught to the cult followers in the seminaries of Deen-e-Imrani), what's stopped Moulvi Imran Khan from coming good on his promise to force PPP and PML-N through mass agitation and soonami or whatever ya'all call it?
This was your original ' war cry ' and it resonated with the people because it is true.........now just stick with this and ' bad governance ' upto the finish line.
3footninja: enlightened us with your viewpoint and english spelling. do you think that imran khan will save this country. go and learn the game of politics my boy.
This is how MQM welcomes election commission on every election!! That shows how fair these election go happen under this government!! Where is CJ? It is the time to call army to come up with election commission and help them conducting free and fair elections!!
Could not agree more.
As pe constitution, only Parliment, and parties in QA can nominate the Nigran PM
How , and who will consult Imran Khan
IK should come close one of Party already in QA,to give his recommendation for Nigran PM
Vote for PTI. Kick out the filth.
@salman: The same reason DPC said they were taking a break from their NATO supply blocking protest for the holidays but not only never ended up returning to do it, they basically disappeared completely. They don't actually care. They just like the attention and patting themselves on the back. If the attention starts to fade they stop.
@Nawaz Sharif: Yes, consider him special and worth voting for simply because he repeatedly mentions corruption. By that standard, the tired and worn out "if not Imran Khan then who?" line can be answered with "any random person off the street who can go 10 minutes without saying something dumb."
@adnan siddiqui
Forget tsunami march. I'm still trying to understand why pmln dropped the go Zardari go campaign? Until Sep 2012 they were still campaigning on that slogan...but now mian sahib doesn't want to hear go Zardari go? Are nawaz and Zardari bbf?
Maybe y'all can answer?
He is right, vote for Imran Khan
Agree with every thing he said.
@chacha: its "corruption" not "korupption", go learn your spellings, kid.
At least he is speaking out, people. He has his faults but he is not corrupt. The rhetoric in this country needs to change. Corruption needs to be publicly highlighted and condemned. Socially, we need to think less of people who have gotten rich of ill-gotten means, as supposed to simply getting impressed with wealth. Time for change!!
@chacha: what do you think is our no.1 problem, smartypants?
@A - No.1: you gotta be really silly not to know the answer to that question
@A - No.1:
You can stop them, if you cast your vote, if you cast it wisely, and if you motivate those around you to exercise their duty. On the other hand, if you think you do not care to vote, or that whatever you do the masses will vote the crooks back in, then who is to blame?
If the people don't change, then nobody can impose change upon them.
@Adnan Siddiqi: no one's asking you to vote for him (he will win anyways). if you don't like his rhetoric, go and vote for current looters i.e. ppp/pmln. but please keep your pessimistic good-for-nothing views away from this forum, unless you have something constructive to say. and for your ignorance on this matter, Imran Khan has always maintained that change will come through ballot, and not by force.
Mr. Adnan PPP / PML-N, don't jump the gun and wait for the elections.
Amen to that!!!!
"He said such people should be stopped from coming to power."
And who will stop them? Please enlighten us.
Enough with the rhetoric home boy! Where is the proverbial Soo-nami March which was envisaged to sweep aside this corrupt dispensation?
All the Political Parties on left, center, right are inept and impotent and cannot provide the necessary political opposition to the crimes and unconstitutional policies of the Mush/Zardari/Hoti regime or stand against the rampant voter fraud in the electoral process. If there is no guarantee of election integrity, then elections become only window dressing for tyranny.
The ruling elites including Generals are illegal and unindicted felon. Parliment, the media and the courts are engaged in a criminal conspiracy to conceal their complicity in perpetrating the fraud on mass scale on the people. Law enforcement and our elected officials have chosen to risk the survival of the country rather than risk the truth.
The Pak does not have any representative government. MPA/MNAs seek election not to uphold the Constitution and serve the masses, but to obtain power and to use that power to accrue professional and financial benefits for themselves and their major supporters. All the traditional means for the masses people to seek the redress of grievances are blocked by a corrupt government composed of a self-absorbed permanent political elite unaccountable to the people.
The status quo is no longer defensible. Unless there is a significant reversal soon, it is only a matter of time that a catastrophe will be upon us, which will inevitably lead to national collapse and fragmentation.
“Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did, and it never will. Find out just what people will submit to, and you have found out the exact amount of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them; and these will continue until they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress.” — Frederick Douglass, August 4, 1857.
Sir Imran Khan Mr Leghari is a part of the government and he is in PTI and you did not asked him to give resignation for many months?. Why is this hypocrisy .?
ofcourse, each and every mainstream party with the exception of JI is somehow part of the govt
korupption korupption koruption
what else he has to say?
We know Mr.Khan, but some will still vote for them ;)
No doubt about it....
Tell me Imran, when the government after Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah was not corrupt, whether ant government came with sweeping majority of a two-third votes or be it was a coalition government?
You are the last hope of people of Pakistan and I assure you that this time voters will come out from their residence no matter what the weather may be for the change.
The change has become must to save the already looted Pakistan.
