Two simultaneous explosions occurred in the parking area of Quaid International Model School at around 9:50am, police official Muhammad Fayaz told The Express Tribune.
“The bombs went off when the students were in their classes. The cleaner and driver were sitting with the school’s watchman in his room near the main gate,” added Fayaz.
He said the police surrounded the school buses following the incident and collected evidence. “Homemade bombs were used and both vehicles were damaged as a result.”
A search operation was launched in the area, but no one has yet been arrested. An FIR has also been registered against unidentified militants.
This is the second attack by militants on the school. On September 13, 2012, militants planted explosives around the building’s boundary wall, partially destroying it. The school’s owner, Mazhar Ali told the police his adversaries were behind the incident, but refused to name them so as not to scare parents.
