A government girls’ primary school was destroyed in Lond Khwar area of Mardan district when explosives planted by unidentified militants went off on Friday.
SHO Lund Khwar police, Fazal Subhan, said Lajbar Khan called the police station around midnight and informed that a bomb exploded in the school building in Kati Khel.
The police reached the site to find four rooms and a boundary wall destroyed by the explosion, said the SHO. A bomb disposal squad member said eight kilogrammes of explosives were used in the bomb.
On Thursday, a school girl was injured when unidentified militants detonated a school and basic health unit (BHU) in the same area. The recent surge in attacks on government installations has led to residents questioning the police’s claims of restoring peace. Police have filed a case against unidentified militants and initiated investigations.
