Zardari approves appointment, extension of IHC judges

SC had ordered the government on December 21 to issue a notification in this regard back dated to November 21.

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday approved the appointment of judges in Islamabad High Court, bringing to an end a standoff that has raged for over almost two months, Experss News reported.

Secretary law Yasmeen Ababs confirmed that a notification has been issued according to which Islamabad High Court judge Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui has been appointed on a permanent post, while Justice Noorulhaq Qureshi's term has been extended by six months.

The Supreme Court had on December 21, told the government to issue a notification back dated to November 21.

Due to the suspension of cellular networks on certain occasions one cannot ignore the importance of alternative means of communication, prime example is a landline service, which is easily accessible nationwide.
