RANIPUR:

Saleemullah Niazi, a transporter who was kidnapped from Korangi 44 days ago, was traced on Tuesday near a railway station in Ranipur, Khairpur.

People residing near the railway station found Niazi chained to a track and informed the police.

Niazi told police officials that he had been kidnapped by six servants, Muhammad Jan, Asif, Qasim, Mitho and Razia, who worked for his brother, Abdul Karim, who is also a transporter by profession.

Niazi alleged that the kidnappers had demanded ransom from his family and had threatened to kill him if the amount was not paid.

An FIR had been registered at the Industrial Area police station. After completing legal formalities, Niazi was reunited with his family. The police and the victim’s family didn’t disclose whether they paid the ransom amount or not. However, the residents of the area claimed that he had been released after a hefty amount was paid.

Police officials also didn’t clarify where Niazi had been kept during the time that he was missing. Niazi, however, claimed that the kidnappers would keep changing locations for fear of being traced by the police.
