But, the chief justice said, that he will hear the case “even if the sky fall downs”.
The chief justice said that the judges have taken an oath of providing justice and will pass a verdict in the case in accordance with the law and Constitution.
He also criticised federal ministers for giving out opinions on the case without knowing the details.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan had ordered the arrest of Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf in the case on Tuesday. The orders, which were given while Dr Tahirul Qadri’s long march was underway in Islamabad, caused uproar across the country.
The Karachi Stock market 100-index had crashed by more than 500 points, while riots were also reported across the city.
Some legal experts have maintained that the prime minister can perform his duties as the chief executive of the country even from the confines of a prison cell.
The deadline for authorities to arrest the prime minister, along with 16 other respondents in the case, ends today.

All of you suck up losers commenting that CJ is only attending to certain cases and not to others, fail to realize that he is only human and doing the best he can. At least something is being done than not being done at all.
Is there really a written order by the Supreme Court of Pakistan to arrest the prime minister?

http://tribune.com.pk/story/488934/shahzeb-khan-case-ig-sindh-absent-as-hearing-begins-in-sc/
"Earlier during the hearing, the chief justice warned concerned authorities to arrest Shahzeb Khan’s murderers by evening, or risk losing their jobs. The court had summoned the advocate general Sindh as well as IG Police Sindh, Fiyyaz Leghari. The latter, however, did not appear in court and was then given a 12pm deadline for appearing before the bench."
see the difference he can take suo moto and go all the way in delivering justice he forced law enforcement into action on shahzaib's case which was really a good thing to do. But unfortunately in quetta he didnt took the notice of the incident itself.
Justice should be served across the board for all the citizens not through pick n choose policy.
These judges have taken PCO oaths to justify abrogation of constitution not Pakistani constitution. Hundreds of people are massacred in Baluchistan but there is no action from this court. However, they hop to every political opportunity in support of rightwing forces that do not want elections. They all know rightwing cannot come into power in an election even under and army general so all efforts are to avoid facing the elections.
@ayesha zaidi: How could he? He can't, even exerting his full force.
@Lord: He did, he tried to hold the Raisani govt responsible, but at every step, the law-enforcement agencies have stopped him. His job is to pass judgement, its the job of other instituitions to implement such judgements. I suggest people to understand the constituition and how things work. He's a judge, not a wizard.
Great move CJ! We want the looted amount back frm Swiss banks as well, We appreciate your efforts!
@shahzad:
Balochistan is not under civil rule in past 15 years save in name. He called in the IG FC who refused to appear before the Court and there was no contempt no nothing. Arsalan Iftikhar case is no where neither is Salman Taseer, BB murder case, Bugti murder case which are never called to hearing. All evidence gladly accepted in Memogate was inadmissible on various grounds when it came to Malik Ishaq. The CJ is ruining the country. Rs 31 billion wiped out in one stroke in KSE? That is more loss to the nation than Raja Rental did.
What an evil look on the face!
@Lord:
It is extremely sad to see Shia genocide in Pakistan but in the same time CJ did not let it happen. For Baluchistan he bashed govt a lot but no one cares about what he said.
He took notice of the incompetence of Baluchistan government several times and has also issued orders on this but obviously some thick skulls here would never understand or bother to read that. And why is it that CJ keep on taking the notices of everything? Shia genocide or other things like that if the job of the government. What good is government for if CJ has to do everything? My car is not working properly, CJ must take notice of that one.
fully in support of CJ, poor pakistani people forget hes only convicting criminals, now if you call them democratic, its your failure and not his!
Well Done! CJ....
Declaring PM house a Prison in Islamabad would be the greatest joke. Raja Rental place is in Adyala Jail, as Mr. Zardari palace is in Landhi Jail.
what ever u people think, he is doing well for our country. he has left his son with supreme court not headed by himself and 1990 elections cannot be called rigged like 1977 elections. can 20 lacs change minds of people given by younas habib to nawaz sharif. use ur mind before saying something. Bravo CJ
@Lalai:
Actually he could not take notice of the Quetta incident legally. In the Balochistan law and order Suo Moto, the court merged several petitions including the one regarding Hazara killings (attack on the bus incident) and declared that the provincial government is neither serious or capable of dealing with the situation in Balochistan and having failed to protect the lives of its citizens, has lost its right to govern. At that point our so called 'liberals' where jumping out of there pants and shouting that the court is attacking democracy. Now 3 months later the same liberals were shouting sack Raisani and why the SC doesn't take a Suo Moto. He could not have because they have already issued a verdict. He could have started another contempt proceedings for non-implementation of the court's decision but I am sure people would have then been after him for trying to bring down democracy again. Again the SC can only give the orders and it is the government who implements it.
Secondly regarding the Malik Ishaq issue, it is true that that he got off in the lower courts but tell me this, did any government file a review petition for those decisions? not justifying the courts here but I have read some of the cases that the security agencies have made against these terrorists and those cases are weak to say the least. Also witnesses frequently go back on their statements in the courts leaving very little evidence for the courts to prosecute. What is needed is stricter legislation. ensuring that the witnesses and their families are properly protected so that these criminals are not let off the hook every time.
@Elhaan Khan: i agree with your POV.only selective justice
Dhols are beating in his head to do something where he can be declared as a hero.
Dear CJ,sky did fall down in Quetta last Thursday for the minority Hazaras and you didn't even bother to take Suo moto. Add to this the release of Malik Muhammad Ishaq through your subordinate courts and one can easliy read your mindset.
Bravo... Thats how you describe a Lion... Not hesitant of telling the truth and making critics realize that he is not deaf or dumb and knows what is being framed.
Then why you stopped the same NAB moving against your son? And why you didn't order the arrest of former Generals in Asghar case when you have addmitted that 1990 elections were raggid? Or in land of pure, everyone is equal before the law but some are more equal than others? Selective justice is more dangerous than no justice --- just like half information can lead u into total confusion than having it no information .
wish you would feel the same about your sons case !
Some good work finally being done by the CJ. Rid us of these jiyalas.
Noise in the East, Attack in the West
Some legal experts have maintained that the prime minister can perform his duties as the chief executive of the country even from the confines of a prison cell.
We are going to make another World Record.. "PM operarting from Prison cell" which will be remain unbreakable for decades. :D Wah Democracy
So why hasn't Raja Rental been arrested yet?
please Mr Justice, open your both eyes. some cases you don't want to listen , why ?
Look at that smile. It is telling the President and Prime Minister that in Power Politics, it is not the position you are holding, but how you play your cards.
"The chief justice said that the judges have taken an oath of providing justice"
What about Shia genocide, are you giving them justice?
