Commemoration Three cash awards to be given on Faraz’s birth anniversary

Aspect’s of Ahmad Faraz’s poetry will be discussed at an upcoming seminar.

Each year the awards will be distributed in a function held on the eve of Faraz’s birth anniversary, says the press statement.



The Ahmad Faraz Trust will give three cash awards — two worth Rs100,000 and one worth Rs50,000 — at a ceremony to mark the birth anniversary of legendary poet Ahmad Faraz on Thursday, said a press release.


The Rs100,000 awards will be given to two poetry books selected by a panel of senior Pakistani writers, while the Rs50,000 award will be given to a book or literary work on Faraz’s poetry.

For this smaller award, research theses written by MPhil and PhD scholars will also be considered, said the press statement.

The seminar to commemorate the legendary poet will be held at the Muqtadra Qaumi Zaban in sector H-8/1. Abid Hasan Manto will preside over the seminar, while Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Masood Kausar will be the chief guest. Prominent literary figures and renowned critics will read out articles on various aspects of Faraz’s poetry.
