PESHAWAR: In a visit to late Qazi Hussain Ahmed’s house, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan took people by surprise when he said his party had suggested the deceased Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader’s name for caretaker prime minister.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Mian Nawaz Sharif and his brother Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif along with Chaudhry Nisar, Pir Sabir Shah, Rahmat Salam Khattak and Nasir Khan Musazai visited Palosai-Peshawar to condole the JI leader’s death.

Speaking to journalists, Nawaz said Qazi Hussain was not only respected by the JI but was endeared by the whole nation. “Qazi Hussain’s dream of implementing an Islamic system will certainly come true,” Nawaz said, adding that the late leader had a dynamic personality and was an active politician.

The former JI chief died of cardiac arrest on Sunday morning. He was 74. Qazi was the head of his party for almost 22 years before he stepped down in 2009.
