Light rain in Islamabad and Rawalpindi and in the rest of the country will lessen the fog on Friday (today) and Saturday, said Chief Meteorologist Dr Ghulam Rasul on Thursday.
He said the westerly weather system will prevail for the next two days and cause scattered and light rain in various parts. But even though the fog will be lessened, it will come back with intensity next week, he added.
The fog will disrupt flight schedules and traffic on the motorway, he added.
Rasul said the rain will be a “blessing” for farmers that depend on rain to cultivate wheat crop.
“Now is the ideal time for cultivation, as it will be difficult for the farmers to cultivate the crop when the temperature falls further,” he said.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) expects snow in various parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan on Friday (today).
The minimum temperatures recorded by the PMD on Thursday were -10 degrees Centigrade (C) in Skardu, -9C in Parachinar, -8C in Astore, -5 C in Hunza and Gupis, -4C in Kalam, -3C in Dir, and -2C in Chitral, Drosh and Gilgit.
The minimum temperature recorded in Islamabad was 3C.
