LAHORE:

PML-N will formally demand the removal of all politically-appointed governors for the upcoming elections, said Opposition Leader, National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Wednesday.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) stalwart said President Asif Ali Zardari’s political horse trading was nearing its logical end, referring to the appointment of Makhdoom Ahmed Mahmood as Punjab Governor.

Nisar said the incoming governor had been appointed to make an impact for the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in the upcoming polls as well as bolster the plummeting perception of the party, but that the move would neither benefit South Punjab nor the PPP.

The PTI

He added that the existing government will automatically dissolve under the Constitution before elections, leaving politically appointed governors in a fix to retain their positions.

Speaking about Minhajul Quran International chief, Dr Tahirul Qadri’s nearing ‘deadline’ for the government, the opposition leader said he does not see a role for Qadri in Pakistani politics.

Taking a jibe at Qadri and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan, Nisar said that Qadri, like Imran, had attempted to launch his political career numerous times, but only managed to win a single seat –  and that too with the support of former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf.

Govt will

The PTI and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) had been exposed after coming out in support of Qadri, Nisar claimed, adding that Imran now wanted to enter the corridors of power with Qadri’s help while MQM, a coalition partner for five years, was now willing to march against its own government for its own ‘narrow’ interests.

Why PMLN and PPPP are opposing suggestions by Dr. Qadri so much? Is he saying anything wrong? He is just asking for implementation of "Constitution of Pakistan". Is this crime to demand this?

PMLN and PPPP are blaming Dr. Qadri that he wants to postpond the elections. The reality is PMLN and PPPP dont want to hold election according to "Constitution of Paksitan." Because if it held, PMLN and PPPP like corrupt parties can never win elections.

I want to ask simple question to ruling and so called opposition parties: How much time would it take to implement the rule that 'No one politician will contest election 1) who has not paid full tax in recent years, 2) who has not paid full utility bills, 3) who has deceived public like in case of fake degrees.' Not more than a week or so. If they want they can implement at least these rules before elections without postponement.

PMLN and PPPP says that Dr. Qadri's demand are unrealistic. Definitely for PMLN and PPPP it will be unrealistic because by removing these corrupt politicians form parties, these parties will vanish.
