Cricket: Stadium unveiled in Ghari Khuda Baksh

KARACHI: The Benazir Bhutto International Cricket Stadium was officially inaugurated yesterday with an exhibition match between Presidents’ XI and Chairman’s XI — teams comprising Pakistan’s former greats and current players.

President Asif Ali Zardari unveiled the stadium at Ghari Khuda Baksh followed by the five-over-a-side match. Chairman’s XI, captained by Intikhab Alam, won the toss and scored 18 for one. Ijaz Ahmed made an unbeaten 10 while Alam scored five.

In reply, skipper Javed Miandad helped Presidents’ XI to 19 for no loss in 3.1 overs with an unbeaten 10 while Awais Zia made six not out.
