Metro Bus: 3 buses in trial run

Once the system is fully operational, a bus will run on the MBS track every three minutes.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and a host of other officials participated in the first trial run of the Metro Bus Service here on Tuesday.


Three buses took part in the trial, running from Ittefaq Bus Station to Gajju Mata, from Gajju Mata to Kalma Chowk, and from Kalma Chowk to Ittefaq Bus Station. The chief minister rode the bus in the first trial run and even took over driving duties from Chungi Amar Sidhu to Gajju Mata.

The chief minister said that six articulated buses that will run on the MBS had arrived from Karachi and the rest would arrive soon. Each bus has a capacity for 150 passengers. Once the system is fully operational, a bus will run on the MBS track every three minutes.

Work on the MBS track is continuing around the clock and will be completed soon, he said. Parliamentarians, government officials and representatives of the Turkish company involved in the MBS project and the Chinese company manufacturing the buses also participated in the trial run.
