JUI Sindh secretary general says that “method” of change espoused by Qadri “might push the country towards civil war”.

SUKKUR:

The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam has advised the Tehreek-e-Minhajul-Quran chief Allama Tahirul Qadri to contest the upcoming elections and bring a change while staying within the bounds specified by the constitution.

JUI Sindh secretary general Dr Khalid Mehmood Soomro said on Monday that the “method” of change espoused by Qadri “might push the country towards civil war”.

The JUI leader condemned the assassination of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa senior minister Bashir Bilour and termed it an “international conspiracy”.

Talking about the spate of violence in Karachi, Soomro said that the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, which are in the coalition government in Sindh, need to take sincere efforts to control the situation. An “impartial” operation needed to be carried out in the city to root out criminals, and political parties need to disown their militant wings. Replying to a question on the apex court’s decision to order redrawing of electoral constituencies in Karachi, Soomro said that the process should be undertaken throughout the province.
