Rs0.5 million on behalf of President given to heirs of slain volunteers, Rs0.2 million given to injured workers.

Slain polio workers: Govt pays compensation

KARACHI: Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Friday distributed compensation cheques among legal heirs of the slain polio campaign workers at Chief Minister House on Friday.

Bilawal gave Rs0.5 million each to the heirs on behalf of President Asif Ali Zardari and Rs0.5 million each from Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah. Two of the injured polio workers were given cheques of Rs0.2 million each from President of Pakistan and Rs100,000 from Chief Minister Sindh.

The legal heirs of Fahmeda,  Mahida, Mst. Naseem Akhtar and Umar Farooq received their compensation cheques.

Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Dr Azra Pechuho MNA, Muzaffar Awais, Shahnaz Wazeer Ali, Chief Secretary Sindh Raja Muhammad Abbas, ACS (Home) Waseem Ahmed, Secretary Health Aftab Khatri, Commissioner Karachi Hashim Raza Zaidi, PD Polio Mazhar Khamisani and others were present at the ceremony.

Now the rightwing is going to wage a jihad against this compensation especially at the hands of PPP chief. It is only fair to compensate for the death of a breadwinner. Let us see what the rightwing is going to do to compensate these victim and their families? Like we say no good deed is going to be unpunished.
