Water disposal: Japanese experts install 16 pumps

Two thrasher cleaners have been installed at Mehmood Booti and Shad Bagh to clean the garbage in water.

LAHORE: The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has installed 16 disposal pumps at a cost of Rs920 million in the city. A ceremony was held at the WASA office on Friday where a shield was presented to a team of Japanese experts by Water and Sanitation Agency Managing Director Mian Abdullah. These disposal pumps will drain out city’s sewage. The JICA had started installing the pumps around two years ago at Outfall Road, Mehmood Booti and Shad Bagh. The JICA is also surveying eight other disposal stations in the city. Two thrasher cleaners have been installed at Mehmood Booti and Shad Bagh to clean the garbage in water. WASA officials said the pumps had been installed at sites most in need. They said 14 old disposal pumps had been replaced with new ones and two new pumps had also been installed.
