KARACHI:

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has been directed by the court to submit a progress report on the removal of illegal encroachments beneath all flyovers in the city.

A Sindh High Court (SHC) division bench, headed by SHC Chief Justice Mushir Alam, was hearing a petition on Wednesday seeking the removal of shops constructed under the Baloch Colony flyover along Sharae Faisal.

Disposing of the matter earlier, the court had ordered the then city government to ensure all encroachments beneath the overhead bridges were removed.

As judges took up the matter on Wednesday, the KMC’s lawyer requested for time to file instructions from the relevant officials and submit his report.

The bench granted his request, giving him two weeks time to submit the city administration’s version.
