Charsadda attack: Eight injured in blast targeting ANP rally

CHARSADDA:

Eight people, including two policemen, were injured in a bomb blast near the venue of a public rally of the ruling Awami National Party (ANP) in Charsadda district on Monday.

The remote-controlled bomb was planted by a roadside, around one kilometre away from the parking of Abdul Wali Khan Sport Complex and Begum Naseem Wali Khan Social Welfare Complex, where the ANP rally was scheduled to be held, according to a local police official.

The bomb was set off when people started gathering at the venue. As a result, eight people – including ASI Masood Khan and Head Constable Fakhr-e-Alam – were wounded. They were ferried to the District Headquarters Hospital where medics referred one of them to Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital for treatment of his critical wounds.
