Extracurricular: Little folks put up big show



Students of various government schools from the twin cities showcased their talent at the annual tableau competition at the Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) on Monday. Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Chairperson Dr Shaheen Khaan was the chief guest while Nafeesa Khattak presided over the ceremony, said a press release issued by the council.


Al-Syed School bagged the first position while Decent Public School and Babar Public School scored the second and third positions respectively. While addressing the ceremony, Khan noted that extracurricular activities are as important as academics as they instill confidence in the students. She added that the government has done a lot of work for the development of education and both private and government institutions should collaborate in this regard.

Dr Afzal Babar said that education is necessary to compete with the pace of technology and the private sector is performing its duties. He applauded the role of RAC for providing a platform to the children besides young talent and thanked its administration for extending cooperation. RAC Resident Director Waqar Ahmed said that the council has been made for cultural and educational activities and would continue its efforts for their promotion.
