The foreign office, in a statement issued in response to Afghan President Hamid Karzai's statement, urged Kabul to share evidence before leveling any charges.
President Karzai alleged that the recent assassination attempt on National Directorate of Security (NDS) chief Asadullah Khalid was carried out by a suicide bomber from Pakistan. The attack seriously wounded the Afghan official.
Pakistan urged Afghanistan to order an investigation into the security lapses around the NDS chief.
"Before leveling charges, the Afghan Government would do well if they shared information or evidence with the government of Pakistan that they might have with regard to the cowardly attack on the head of NDS," the FO statement said.
"They would also do well by ordering an investigation into any lapses in the security arrangements around the NDS chief."
The Foreign Office said on its part, the government of Pakistan was ready to assist any investigation of this criminal act.

@Grille Grille: you answered your own question: $10 m bounty was put by US because he has been proved a terrorist. Just go out of your country, mate - see how they grill every Pakistani at every international airport!!
@arindom: "to the rest of the world Pakistani terrorism has been proved beyond doubt."
Typical Indian garbage. You people couldn't prove Hafiz Saeed's hand in the Mumbai attacks despite the $10 million bounty on him, and you blamed the Samjhauta Express torching on Pakistan until it turned out your own state actors did it, who are now free men. If you think "Pakistani terrorism" has been "proven beyond doubt" then it is your own threshold of "beyond doubt" that is very low.
@Polpot: "Pakistan also dismisses allegations that OBL was ever in Pakistan +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If you dont believe thats your problem."
Polpot, Pakistan has never dismissed that allegation (it's another matter that the US never proved he was found and killed in Abbottabad). Why don't you people ever bother to look up some basic news before posting propaganda on the internet?
HERE IS HOW AFGHANISTAN'S BLAME GAME ON PAKISTAN WORKS:
STEP 1) An attempt is made on the life of some high profile Afghan.
STEP 2) Afghanistan blames it on Pakistan without ever conducting any investigation and the ONLY evidence (if any) it presents is a single A4-sized sheet instead of a proper dossier.
STEP 3) Pakistan naturally and logically rejects Afghan allegations due to the lack of evidence and asks how and why these constant security lapses in Afghanistan keep taking place.
STEP 4) Pakistan urges the Afghans to give actual evidence and communicate all their concerns through proper diplomatic channels instead of just ranting in the media.
STEP 5) Pakistan offers all cooperation in the investigation and urges joint work against terrorism, telling Afghanistan to refrain from petty and empty blame games without evidence that do nothing but unnecessarily sour bilateral ties.
STEP 6) [In the case of Burhanuddin Rabbani's assassination] Pakistan, Afghanistan and a third country trusted by both (in that case, Turkey) start jointly investigating the assassination attempt but fail to reach any conclusion at all and the matter is eventually forgotten.
STEP 7) Back to STEP 1)
@Nand: It's not about "going nuts" it's about propaganda against a scapegoat to divert attention away from your own failures.
I wonder why the world blames Pakistan for all the terrorism. Afterall, is it not the Land of the Pure? Even China has blamed Pakistan. Seems the whole world is going nuts to accuse Pakistan unjustly.
What kind of "spy chief" is he .... meeting "peace representatives" wearing suicide jackets. He should open a fruit shop or sell potato-chips.
@curious: what's the difference? You take money, food and everything else from US and hate them. you are the best example for a backstabber.
Karazi is right because he was here with those who work for others in our country,it is business,no ethics,no country,no self pride, being muslim,no system,no checks,no scrutiny, so he is right to blame.
@What: allegations by India look baseless only through eyes of brainwashed Pakistanis - to the rest of the world Pakistani terrorism has been proved beyond doubt.
@What: "Karzai seems to have learned the art of baseless allegations from his indian friends " +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I agree ! first Mumbai and then OBL. All baseless!
Who cares about karzai.
This is the reason I really distrust Afghanis. Pakistanis always help them through thick and thin and then when a crisis such as this happens, they gingerly blame Pakistanis. Enough is enough! Really the policy towards Afghanis and Afghanistan in Pakistan needs to change as they always throughout history time and time again blame Pakistan for any misfortunes they experience and this really is NOT FAIR!!
@Usman786: What about advising your establishment to put an end to this skulduggery? This is gone on long enough and your neighbors are not too happy about it.
Karzai and his advisers need to stay a little better informed, if of course this statement was not the typically deliberate 'scapegoat Pakistan' statement put out by Kabul.
A similar attack, against the Saudi anti-terrorism chief at the time, was carried out by an Al Qaeda terrorist back in 2009. The bomb, hidden inside the terrorists body, was triggered remotely by a cell phone, which clearly indicates that the kind of planning and capability required for such attacks has been available to terrorists for several years now, as the report below shows:
"The body bomb method was tested for the first time by 23-year-old Al Qaeda militant Abdullah Hassan al-Asiri, who got through several security checks with military grade plastic explosive in his rectum and detonated them during a meeting with the Saudi anti-terrorism chief, Prince Mohammed bin Nayef in August. The prince only escaped serious injury because the terrorist’s body absorbed much of the impact of the blast and was ripped into seventy pieces. The bomb is believed to have been triggered by a signal from a mobile phone text message."

Pakistan also dismisses allegations that OBL was ever in Pakistan +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If you dont believe thats your problem.
This is all because drones which i condemn
now pak is waiting for the reaction :)
The rest of the world dismisses Pakistans excuses and lies about not supporting terrorism.
I think USA did attack on him!, They want to get rid him now, We must understand CIA is much powerful than to ISI. And the density of CIA is highest in that region.
But Afghan Govt must launch impartial inquiry, However in such cases it is usually hard to carried such things.
How unpredictable?
Karzai seems to have learned the art of baseless allegations from his indian friends therefore Pak should not expect karzai to backup his conspiracy theories with solid evidence.
donot let these clowns enter into Pakistan. we donot need dollars anymore - let have self respect
