LAHORE:
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif will announce a series of incentives designed to encourage women to get jobs on Working Women’s Day (December 22), said District Coordination Officer Noorul Amin Mengal on Saturday.
Addressing a seminar at a school in Model Town, Mengal said that working women were of great benefit to the economy. He said that the government had finalised arrangements to celebrate the day, including a special package for working women to be announced by the chief minister.
Punjab government officials discussed arrangements for the day at a meeting chaired by Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Rana Mashhood Khan, while a seminar on Working Women’s Day was also held at Aisha Degree College for Women Ravi Town.
Khan said that women had an important role to play in the development of Pakistan and the aim of Working Women’s Day was to highlight their capabilities and encourage their participation in national life.
He appreciated the holding of seminars at the tehsil, district and divisional level, saying they raised awareness about the steps taken by the government to empower women.
Chief Minister’s Advisor Zakia Shahnawaz said that working women were participating actively in arranging events throughout the province on December 22. She said that this showed that women had confidence that the Punjab government was trying to help them.
Secretary for Women’s Development Irum Bukhari, about a special package for women announced by the chief minister in March, said that more than 80 per cent of the measures had been implemented.

Excellent proposal ! Other provincial governments need to follow Punjab Government if they too are sincere with the country.
