KARACHI: KPT secured a 1-0 win over PIA in their Pakistan Premier Football League match to move up three places in the standings while Afghan FC got a walkover against Wapda who failed to show up for the match in Chaman.
KPT earned a much-needed victory when their striker Muhammad scored in the 32nd minute and replaced ZTBL in 11th with 20 points. On the other hand, PIA remained 10th with 21 points.
Meanwhile, according to match officials, Wapda refused to travel to Chaman for their match against Afghan FC due to security concerns. This may have been due to the attack on KESC captain Essa Khan last month by Afghan FC officials, resulting in many teams having second thoughts about playing in Chaman.
Afghan FC now sit seventh with 29 points after 22 matches, while Wapda moved down to eighth with 26 points.
