Firing incidents claim four lives in Karachi

Shops closed down in Old Haji Camp area.

KARACHI: Four people were killed in firing incidents across Karachi on Friday, Express News reported Friday.

Two people were gunned down in the Old Haji Camp area, which stirred tension in the area. Shops were closed down after the incident.

A stray bullet claimed a man’s life in Nazimabad no. 7, while police recovered a body from Abul Hassan Isphahani Road, bearing bullet marks.

Earlier, the Sindh Police, in a statement, had said that it arrested around 165 target killers this year and vital information was extracted from them.

Interior Minister Rehman Malik had also given details regarding violence in Karachi to the National Assembly and had said that a total of 1,363 people lost their lives at the hands of target killers during the past five years.

Giving a breakdown of the figure, Malik had said that 104 people had been killed in year 2008, 160 in 2009, 373 in 2010, 478 in 2011 and 248 so far in 2012.
