The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has successfully completed the first phase of intra-party elections – the first such task undertaken by a political party in the subcontinent, said PTI chief Imran Khan.
Addressing party members at his residence in Lahore on Tuesday, Imran said that this was the first time people used the latest technology to vote in a transparent and fearless environment.
According to a press release, Imran said that the PTI would uproot the “dirty political culture” in the country and ensure real democracy, and added that intra-party elections would also get rid of hereditary politics from the country.
The PTI will promote new political norms in the country, which have been ignored by so-called political parties for ulterior motives, Imran said. He added that a new local government system would be introduced to induct more manpower from grass roots level.
The party chairman added that the PTI would issue party tickets to those candidates in upcoming general elections that are recommended by a parliamentary board on merit.
Meanwhile, PTI’s election commission has sought an explanation from Ahsan Rasheed, the former president of the party’s Punjab chapter, on allegations that a group patronised by him had violated the intra-party election code of conduct during the Punjab Unity Workers Convention held last Sunday in Lahore.
PTI’s Chief Election Commissioner Hamid Khan said Rasheed had been asked to submit his reply within three days. Any action, including just a warning, could be taken against the violator if his reply is found unsatisfactory, Hamid said.
He said that a complaint had been received alleging that Rasheed, along with his aides, tried to campaign for votes at the Punjab Unity Workers Convention. The management of the convention had promised workers that Imran Khan would address the convention, which was not true. Party office-bearers and workers were given the impression that PTI Punjab was organising the event.
The management used the party’s name and logo without any legal authority, which was a violation since all the hierarchy of office-bearers had been disbanded for intra-party elections, Hamid added.
As many as 2,000 people participated in the convention across the province.

I agree very much that first time in the history of pakistan ittefaq foundry Lahore Started another an other unit which was n league private ltd established in early 80s Owned by nawaz shahbaz Abbas main directors now hamza mariam hussain capt safdar Ishq dar and some more relatives of this pvt ltd group own n league pvt ltd they had multiplied From couple units to 45 units while they were in power that is the worst example of corruption In the world they are crooks hypocites. They invest in election for profit.
I think Imran khan should concentrate on Election rather than on party elections.PTI need candidates that could win the elections. We all know that politics in Pakistan is run by feudals not by common men therefore PTI need strong candidates that could deal with the corrupt parties like PMLN and PPP who are using government money and machinery to win the elections. These thugs will do anything to win the elections and come to power .We have seen that in recent by elections.Imran khan should go to the villages and meet people there personally and announce candidate for the election.God forbid if PTI loose the elections, then both Parties who behind the scene support each other will continue their loot and plunder and increase their family wealth as they did in the last five years.Imran khan and PTI deserve a chance.
@uH: If he get rid of them,PTI won't succeed in next elections and need of the time is that PTI wins in next elections...
Only PTI and JI are the democratic parties in Pakistan. Other parties like PMLN, PPP and PMLQ are just family parties. Never expect from them that they would ever conduct genuine intra party elections. How can a party which in not democratic itself bring true democracy in Pakistan???
Why doesn't Mr Khan first get rid of the qureshi, kasuri and hashmi scions n preach later?
@express tribune, pls tell the nooras, that this is actual democracy and meritocracy...Ahsan rasheed was PTI punjab's president and imran khan's personal friend, but he is being treated the same as every1 else in the party !
