Pakistan off to flyer in kabaddi World Cup

Asian champions thrash Sierra Leone 55-12 in opener.

KARACHI: Asian champions Pakistan got off to a winning start at the 3rd Kabaddi World Cup, beating Sierra Leone 55-12 in their Group C opening encounter in Hoshiarpur, India yesterday.

Pakistan have been drawn with Italy, Scotland and Sierra Leone. A total of 16 teams are participating in the tournament, which has been divided into four groups.

The winner of the event will pocket a handsome amount of Rs20 million, while the runners-up will receive half the amount. The team that finishes third will take away a cash prize of Rs5.1 million.

In the other match of the group, Italy humbled Scotland 66-19. Pakistan will be playing their second game against Scotland in Amritsar today.

Hope the Indian team shows better sportsman spirit when they face Pakistan this time round.
